Melton Tuesday Market Tour
A new weekly tour taking you behind the scenes at Melton Mowbray’s historic livestock market.

We’re excited to announce a new tour! Every Tuesday morning we’re going to be taking guests behind the scenes at Melton’s historic livestock market and Stockyard.
Melton Mowbray’s markets stretch back to the Domesday Book, and the Tuesday market received a charter in 1324. On our new tours you’ll hear stories of Melton’s history, and how the markets still play a vital role in the town’s culture.

The tour will last two hours, and you'll meet the producers and taste some of the fantastic food and drink being made and sold in the Rural Capital of Food. From jams and fruit vinegars foraged in the Derbyshire Peaks to Melton’s famous pork pies. From traditional Lincolnshire sausages to homemade authentic Asian curries, you’ll hear the stories of the producers and taste their food.

As part of the experience, you’ll also get a unique glimpse into the famous livestock market, seeing the sales in action and learning how this centuries-old tradition continues to support the producers and food culture that make Melton so special.
